This is a fascinating bird. It’s really big - at least for being a bird! It’s more than one meter long and around 2-2,5 meters wingspan!
I really love my “new” Tokina 400 mm lense! :)

I’m trying out twitter for the first time. My name on twitter is pkorkala, and my twitter-url is http://twitter.com/pkorkala feel free to follow me. I’m not following anyone on twitter yet…
I’ve also buyed a new cell phone - a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. It’s very different from my last one (Sony Ericsson W660i), especially with the touch screen, and I’m satisfied so far.

Yesterday evening I made my first attempt to catch the moon with my 400 mm lense:

The photo is not cropped.
This is the same photo, but cropped (and I also sharpened it with unsharp mask in Photoshop):

This is the same photo once again, but cropped in another way. It turned out a little bit noisy, so I desaturated it and sharpened it with unsharp mask:

Now I’m waiting for the full moon! :)

Turning Torso in Malmö, the tallest building in Sweden. Photo taken on January 25th.
It’s not the best Sky Watch Friday-photo, but I wanted to participate today, and I couldn’t find any other photo with more “sky” in it…

This Sunday I took my new 400 mm for a walk in Örebro, a fairly large city (around 120,000 people) 90 km to the south of my home. I’m still learning how to manage the new lense, but with a bit of luck one and another photo comes out sharp and nice (I’m not used to use manual focus)… :)

This photo is NOT sharp, but I like the composition. It would have been very nice if the girl’s legs and shoes were in focus.

Here’s almost the same photo, but with another focus. I like this one too.

A pair of walking shoes. :)

A street in Örebro.

Yesterday I recieved my new Tokina 400 mm! Yay! I’ve always wanted to have a good zoom lens! Although this one is without zoom (always 400 mm) I’m very glad to have it. To bad though that I haven’t tried it out yet - the weather is so bad outside (snowing heavily) and this lens is certainly not a very good one for indoor use… Keep your finger crossed for sunshine tomorrow! :)

The small harbour in Kåseberga, Skåne, at february 7th. Foggy and windy but no snow or ice.

The famous Ale’s Stones in Kåseberga.
The photos were shot with the 50 mm lense.
Today I bought a new (used) lense - a Tokina RMC 400 mm! I’m sure I’m going to love that one! I’m really looking forward to get it! :) :)

I just wanted to write and tell that I’m still around somewhere here. This is the last week in Copenhagen, at the Scandinavian School of Brewing, and I’ll be home again on friday. Yay! :-)

I’m a bit late with my Sky Watch Friday-post this week too, but I didn’t have the time to make the post yesterday. That was good though, because today I hade the chance to get this beautiful sunset captured on (digital) film.
Sundet is a tiny, tiny village between the tiny village Ställdalen and the large village Kopparberg. Sundet means The Strait in Swedish.
The first photo was taken to the east:

And the second photo is to the west:

This is what a road in the winter should look like! I really hate the salt they’re spreading out on the roads as soon as they can. One of the really good things with the cold weather (below -6 C) is that the salt is useless, and we get this nice winter roads instead of the wet, ugly, salty ones.
Today it’s a bit warmer, around -8 C, so maybe it’s a good day for a trip somewhere? As this day is a holiday (January 6th, Epiphany), at least here in Sweden, I’m not at work today.
Hmm… did I mention that I’m back at the brewery? Due to the recession I lost my job as a Diamond Core Driller (they’ve dismissed 49 out of 85 men), but luckily I could begin at the brewery (Kopparbergs Brewery) again, just two weeks later. I’ve been working as a supervisor at the filling lines at the brewery for six years before I started as a Core Driller.
On Saturday I’m going to a five weeks education at Scandinavian School of Brewing (Bryggerhøjskolen) in Copenhagen, Denmark. It will be a tough challenge, but also a lot of fun. I’m going to live in Svedala, Skåne and take the train over the Öresund Bridge, every day. I hope there will be time for some photographing during the five weeks stay there!
