Photos of the Moon with a 400 mm

Yesterday evening I made my first attempt to catch the moon with my 400 mm lense:

The photo is not cropped.

This is the same photo, but cropped (and I also sharpened it with unsharp mask in Photoshop):

This is the same photo once again, but cropped in another way. It turned out a little bit noisy, so I desaturated it and sharpened it with unsharp mask:

Now I’m waiting for the full moon! :)

  1. Wow that was beautiful! I look forward to the full moon images. :)

  2. Thanks Øyvind!

  3. Great shots. I use iso 100,f/11 and 1/100s as my settings when I shoot the moon. This is often called Lunar 11 :-)

  4. Thanks Ivar, I’ll try the Lunar 11 setting next time! :)
