The house is built sometime after 1896 (the year Sir Ernest Cassel donated 250.000 kr to the workers at the mine in Grängesberg).

  1. Was dropping an ecard here but stopped to enjoy your beautiful pics. I visited Sweden in 1984 and though I was very busy I appreciated the beauty of the countryside and people there. You have a word there for a meal that comes between meals. I can’t remember it but it seemed like every time I turned around someone was announcing that word and setting out wonderful breads, cheeses, crackers and other delicious foods.
    Your pics are great!

  2. Thank you, RogerDJ!
Are you thinking of the word fika? Or mellanmål?

  3. Ah yes, it was fika. Often, out Swedish hosts would announce fica ! and I would think, already ? It seems like we just ate and now it’s time to eat again ? Yes, that’s the word they used. Thanks !
