View over Lake Vasman

July 4th, 2008 Peter Korkala

Here’s a photo I took last summer (May, 12th, 2007):

The lake is called Vasman, and this photo is taken just outside the town Ludvika, from an old mining fascility. The view from here was stunning!

This is about 35 km from my home. Here are a lot of lakes everywhere.

Mustasch - Double nature (Interphace Radio Edit)

July 2nd, 2008 Peter Korkala

I just have to share this great song:

Mustasch - Double nature (Interphace Radio Edit)

If you would like to listen to it at YouTube you’ll find it here.

Mustasch is a good Swedish hard rock band, and this remix is done by a guy who’s called Interphace (also Swedish).

Sunset at midnight

July 2nd, 2008 Peter Korkala

About one month ago I took this photo on my way home from work. I was working the evening shift, and I believe this photo was taken about 11:30pm. During summer the nights are not that dark here (it’s called White Nights), and further north - above the polar circle - the sun don’t set until sometime in August.

A couple of new blogs

July 1st, 2008 Peter Korkala

Today I’ve adde a couple of new (for me) Japan-related blogs to my blogroll: MichaelMcKinlay.com, Mottekaero jDonuts and Nick Ramsay’s Blog.

It’s very fun to read these blogs, and the owners seem to be very nice people. You have to love the net - It doesn’t matter if you’re in Sweden or in the USA, you can still be a part of (or at least read about) the daily life in Japan!

Today I saw this PhotoHunt thing on Tokyo-Toms website. It sounds fun, and I may participate in the next one (on Saturday).

Crowded subway in Tokyo

June 1st, 2008 Peter Korkala

Why don’t they just increase the train capacity in some way? Add more vehicles or trains? Or is it impossible without expanding the rail-network? Click on the image to see a video on YouTube where they are pushing people into the subway train.

The people hired to push people into the train is called Oshiya in Japanese. In what other cities are there people hired to push people?

Advertising: Project Wonderful

June 1st, 2008 Peter Korkala

Today I discovered a new (to me) advertising network: Project Wonderful.

You buy and sell ad-space by auctions that never end. The current highest bidder gets his ad showed on the site. It seems to be a very great opportunity to advertise on many sites at a low cost. I’m going to check this out!

Is there any chance to run a Swedish version of this concept maybe?

Japan blogs

May 17th, 2008 Peter Korkala

I’ve added two links in the blogroll. The links are Tokyo-Tom and Japan Explained. I’m very interested in Japan, especially the daily life of ordinary people, and there will certainly be more links in the Japan-related category.
